Woman, 35, Crashes Sedan Into Pattaya Grocery Store and Sidecar, Then Hits Motorcyclist; Chased 3 Kilometers Before Being Captured, Open Beer Found in Car

NONGPRUE, Chonburi: A 35-year-old woman driving a white Honda Accord slammed into a grocery store, a parked sidecar motorcycle, and then a passing motorcyclist on Saturday night near Pattaya before fleeing the scene, police said. Residents chased the car for more than three kilometres until they cornered the driver. Officers later found an opened beer bottle inside the vehicle.

Police Lt. Col. Kittipoj Iamprapai, deputy inquiry officer at Nong Prue Police Station, said the first report came in at 10:10 p.m. on the 19th of September 2026. A sedan driver had ploughed into a grocery shop and other property in Soi Wat Boon Samphan, Khao Noi, then driven off and struck a resident on a motorcycle, leaving the victim seriously injured. Officers and rescue volunteers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya rushed to the scene.

At the shop, a sidecar motorcycle had been hit and damaged. Goods in front of the store were scattered across the ground. The impact also damaged the grocery and a nearby cannabis shop, wrecking several items inside. The suspect vehicle was a white Honda Accord registered in Bangkok. Its front end was badly crumpled.

Witnesses said the driver did not get out to check the damage or offer help. Instead she accelerated away. Shop owners and residents immediately followed. Further along the road the sedan struck a motorcycle, leaving its unidentified rider with serious injuries. Rescue workers gave first aid and rushed the victim to hospital.

The chase continued for more than three kilometres until the Accord reached Soi Thung Klom–Talanman 14, where residents blocked off and stopped the car and forcefully held the driver until police arrived.

Inside the vehicle officers found an opened beer bottle. The driver, identified as Ms Nitaya, 35, appeared intoxicated and refused to answer questions. She was taken to Nong Prue Police Station for an alcohol breath test. The car’s front bumper was heavily damaged.

Witnesses told police they had seen the white sedan approaching at high speed and swerving before the driver lost control, hit the parked sidecar and sent it sliding into the grocery store. The driver then reversed and sped away.

Shop owner Sangkhom Saramano, 57, said he and his wife were sitting inside the store when the white sedan smashed into the sidecar parked out front with enough force to send it flying into the shop. The driver then reversed and fled.

Police said they were testing the driver for alcohol and would proceed with charges under the law.
